This one should be recategorized as "wow".

Honestly, amazing work on all your stuff. Been looking through here after my pal Bosa linked me here. I don't think I've ever seen finer water color work.

I don't agree with the previous review. I'm sure people thought the same thing about Piccasso painting the Girls from Avignon or Stravinksy's Rite of Spring- tasteless and crude. I for one think this is a great juxtaposition and well-played humor. In some strange way you managed to offend both sides of an argument. which is pretty awesome! :D

It takes a good man to make an opinion on a piece but a great man to look beyond his own morals and opinions to really understand a piece.

Seriously, think how absurd the "war" between creationism and logic is. One side uses the folklore of a 3,000 year-old culture that was compiled during that nations' time in slavery as evidence (kinda like people using books written by slaves in America about their ordeals and origins 2,000 years from now to try to prove that Europeans sailed in giant floating houses). The other uses our best theories on how things work to try to disprove the other (for our analogy, by trying to reconstruct a 16th Century Spanish galleon using partial historical evidence and seeing if it works). And then all that is over the most unnecessary question mankind has ever asked- where did we begin? Seriously. We're worried about where our great-great-great-great x 5000 grandfather came from? I know I came from my mother's womb and that's enough for me. If you could ask a Sumerian peasant in 4,000 BC where he came from, he'd probably say the same thing. Same with 5,000 BC and so on and so on.

I think this painting really sums up the ridiculousness of all of it. People who supposedly follow a religion that preaches respect and compassion arguing, lying, and sometimes even physically beating others over this one issue. Those they argue against calmly and cooly destroying their "arguments" one by one. If heaven exists and Richard Dawkins goes there and this Jesus fellow was actually some sort of supernatural being thing, he'd probably welcome Mr. Dawkins and thank him for trying to talk sense into mankind if that 3,000-year-old Folklore is any evidence of Jesus' behavior.

Well enough of that BS. I like the painting style. The clouds swirling in the background reminds me of the God figure from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Everything is very symbolic and well done. Glad to finally see it finished!

I really love this landscape, I just think a bit more work could be done with the lighting to reflect the color of the light on the clouds and landscape. It's clear on the water, but the landscape and clouds look like they are from a moderately sunny day here on earth.

keaglez responds:

Thanks for the critique! Unfortunately, the program I use is limited. There isn't a way to 'bounce' light off of water onto other objects. Also, you have to play some visual tricks in order to get something the way you want it to look. There are actually 2 suns in this, one behind the camera and the other blue one you see. You need a sun facing the front of the planets in order to actually see them, same with the terrain. The blue sun has incredibly low power (.01) compared to the default sun power (3.5).

Wow! And you're a good pen-and-ink artist! Very good, reminds me of the images from Age of Empires II campaign intros.
